THE PROCESS

The SkinPen® device is shaped like a pen and has a disposable tip with 14 surgical-grade, tiny stainless steel needles. As these needles glide across the treatment area, they vibrate, creating thousands of microscopic channels into the dermis. This process activates your body’s wound-healing response, which, in turn, stimulates the production of collagen and elastin – the same components of our skin that break down with aging and acne scarring! As the skin heals, it becomes thicker and smoother. This regeneration visibly improves the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, enlarged pores, acne scarring, and stretch marks.
An average SkinPen® treatment is only 30 minutes. Topical numbing is applied before to ensure your comfort. Aside from the slight tickle of the vibrating needles, most clients experience little to no discomfort with SkinPen®. Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) can be added to any SkinPen® treatment to enhance overall results. This process involves drawing your blood before treatment and using a centrifuge to spin down and separate the plasma, which is introduced back into the skin via microneedling. This popular combination, called SkinPen® with PRP, or the PRP Facial, delivers vital growth factors deep into the skin’s dermis to accelerate healing, stimulate even more collagen and elastin, and dramatically boost your skin’s luminosity and smoothness.
THE RESULTS
Visibly transform your skin with as few as three treatments with SkinPen®.
Immediately following SkinPen® Microneedling, your skin will be slightly red and feel tight, like a sunburn or windburn. This response can last up to three days but generally subsides within 24 hours. You can return to your normal activities the day after SkinPen® as long as an SPF of 30 or higher is applied. Makeup can be worn at this time to disguise any redness. Some clients experience light flaking in the week following SkinPen®, so it is advisable to schedule your treatment at least 10-14 days before any special events.
Although you may notice improvements to your skin’s luminosity within the first week following SkinPen®, your full results will not be seen until three months after your last treatment. This is because it takes time for collagen and elastin to rebuild and regenerate the various tissues of the skin. Clients who add Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) to their SkinPen® treatment may notice accelerated healing and more dramatic results due to the high infusion of growth factors in their skin.
Visible results can be seen with as little as one SkinPen® treatment, but a minimum of three treatments, spaced four to six weeks apart, are recommended to note significant improvement to fine lines, wrinkles, enlarged pores, acne scarring, and stretch marks. Depending on the depth and severity of wrinkles, acne scarring, and/or stretch marks, an additional series of treatments may be recommended.
