Although the appearance of cellulite can vary greatly, from slight depressions in the skin to prominent lumps and dimpling, there’s no denying that its appearance can take a toll on your body confidence. What is Cellulite?
Cellulite forms when fibrous connective cords that tether the skin to the underlying muscle become irregular and trap underlying pockets of fat. As fat cells accumulate, they push up against the skin while the long, tough cords pull down. This creates an uneven surface or dimpling. Cellulite can become more pronounced as we age due to the loss of collagen and elastin, which thins the skin and makes lumps and dimples more visible.
What is Sofwave™?
Sofwave™ is a non-invasive skin tightening treatment. It uses Synchronous Ultrasound Parallel Bream Technology, or SUPERB™, to trigger your skin’s collagen and elastin production. Sofwave™ is currently FDA-cleared for lifting the eyebrows, tightening skin under the chin and jawline, reducing fine lines and wrinkles, and temporarily improving the appearance of cellulite.
How does Sofwave™ Smooth Cellulite?
Sofwave™ uses a technology called Sofcool™ to cool and protect your skin as powerful ultrasound energy heats the underlying dermis. This action stimulates collagen and elastin production in your skin. As the dermis heals, it becomes firmer and tighter, which smooths the appearance of dimples and lessens the visibility of underlying fat.
Does Sofwave™ for Cellulite Hurt?
Sofwave™ is non-invasive and non-ablative. Its Sofcool™ technology allows it to safely deliver high concentrations of energy deep into the skin without injuring its surface. To ensure comfort, a numbing cream is used before Sofwave™ for both face and cellulite body treatments. Most patients feel some degree of warmth, but Sofwave™ should not feel uncomfortable. Depending on the size of the treatment area, the average Sofwave™ cellulite treatment last 45-60 minutes.
Who is the Ideal Candidate for a Sofwave™ Cellulite Treatment?
Although a consultation is required before receiving a Sofwave™ treatment for cellulite, almost anyone who suffers from cellulite and is bothered by its appearance is a candidate. Because Sofwave™ is non-ablative and is not attracted to the pigment in skin, it can safely be used on any skin color. As long as you are healthy and do not have an active infection or irritation in the area you would like improved, you are a candidate for Sofwave™!
When Will I See Results with Sofwave™ for Cellulite?
Immediately after Sofwave™, your skin will appear flushed for a day or two, and you may experience some tenderness and sensitivity for a few hours after your appointment. Other than that, there is little to no downtime associated with Sofwave™. Although you may see improvements in your cellulite in as little as six weeks, expect to see your complete, skin-smoothing Sofwave™ results after 12 weeks. More than one treatment may be needed depending upon the depth and significance of the cellulite prior to treatment.
